Sheila obtained her degree in Animal Science from the University of Reading in 1994 followed by her Veterinary Degree from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1998. She operates a peripatetic canine and feline endoscopy service for first opinion and referral practices in the Mid-Wales, Shropshire and Staffordshire regions of the UK.

Sheila spent five years in primary care small animal practice before undertaking a residency in Feline Medicine at the Feline Centre, University of Bristol, which she completed in 2006. She has led several small animal medicine departments within large veterinary referral hospitals across the UK including the Animal Health Trust, Wey Referrals and Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists. She also provided a small animal medicine advisory service to general practitioners during her role as a small animal medicine consultant for IDEXX veterinary laboratories. She returned to the Feline Centre at Bristol Veterinary School to undertake a one-year feline medicine lectureship post before taking up an academic post as the director of an international veterinary postgraduate examination body. In 2022, Sheila returned to clinical practice as a feline medicine consultant, creating and delivering lectures and online course content for both private and academic organisations before joining Endoscopy Vet Referrals in February 2025. She has over 15 years of experience as a small animal medicine specialist and veterinary endoscopist.

She is an EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine, one of only 17 RCVS Recognised Specialist’s in Feline Medicine globally and a member of the ISFM Academy of Feline Practitioners. She is particularly passionate about providing practically relevant veterinary education and regularly lectures both nationally and internationally on all aspects of Feline Medicine. She has also provided clinical tutorship to over 50 postgraduate veterinary surgeons during her role as a senior tutor on the feline medicine distance education course delivered by the Centre for Veterinary Education, University of Sydney. Sheila has a special interest in minimally invasive endoscopy, feline renal and ureteric disease, gastroenterology and delivering Cat Friendly Practice.

Procedures performed

This is the examination of the nasal cavity and the nasopharynx, respectively, and is performed in all cases of nasal disease. This is an extremely useful tool for both dogs, and especially cats, presenting with chronic nasal disease. It not only allows for examination and collection of biopsy samples, but it also acts as a therapeutic option in many patients suffering from chronic rhinitis. Interventional procedures quoted on request. Price includes collecting simple biopsy samples.
This procedure is used for examining the larynx, trachea, mainstem bronchi and segmental bronchioles. It can help identify any functional and structural abnormalities, aid in the collection of pathology samples under direct visualisation, and identify and remove respiratory foreign bodies. Price includes collecting BAL samples.
This is the endoscopic exploration of the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon. This minimally invasive imaging technique is useful for investigating cases of regurgitation, trouble swallowing (dysphagia), vomiting, blood in vomit (haematemesis), dark blood in stool (melena), not eating (anorexia), and weight loss. It is most commonly used for obtaining biopsy samples and for interventional purposes (e.g. foreign body removal). Cost includes taking biopsy samples from stomach, duodenum, and proximal jejunum.
This is the endoscopic exploration of the small intestine and colon. This minimally invasive imaging technique is useful for investigating cases of dark blood in stool (melena), not eating (anorexia), diarrhoea, weight loss, fresh blood in stool (haematochezia) and tenesmus. It is most commonly used for obtaining biopsy samples and for interventional purposes (e.g. foreign body removal). Cost includes taking biopsy samples from distal jejunum, ileum, colon.

Urethrocystoscopy is the examination of the urethra, urinary bladder and ureteric openings. It is commonly used in small animal patients presenting with blood in the urine (haematuria), incontinence, frequent or abnormal urination (pollakuria), difficulty passing urine (stranguria), chronic bladder infections ( cystitis) and stones in the bladder (urolithiasis).
